Does mom-to-be have a love for all things Parisian? A French Flower Market Shower may be the most perfect way to help her celebrate her baby!
A beautiful French Flower Market Baby Shower took all of the guests on a trip straight to Marche Aux Fleurs with French inspired food and, of course, bundles of magnifique flowers!
About The Shower
When I was asked to plan this shower, I wanted to take inspiration from the parent’s interests as well as the nursery décor. Parents-to-be love reminiscing over their honeymoon to Paris, so much so that their nursery is pulling in Parisian elements. That’s when it hit me, a French Flower Market is the perfect theme for their baby shower!
What I didn’t realize when I landed on this idea was how thin the line was between French Flower Market and Farmhouse. It was a thin line I DEFINITELY did not want to cross. The two elements that really helped me stay on the French side of the line were signage and food.
Signage helped set the tone for the entire event. Writing mainly in French and using Parisian inspired doodles helped ensure that guests knew exactly where they had just been transported. The most important sign being the huge Marche Aux Fleurs sign, there would be no denying where you were spending your afternoon.
The shower was held after lunch, so finger foods were just the right amount of snackage needed. A charcuterie board is always welcome, and they add a delightful design element to any food table. The dessert items also helped add to the French theme with macarons, the MOST ADORABLE Parisian cookies and the most delicious double chocolate cake (complete with it’s very own bouquet on top). To finish it off the food table was covered with a brown kraft paper that tied in with the bouquet favors that we will get to next!
With this being a French FLOWER Market themed shower, there was no way we could get away with not have flowers. Flower arrangements could be found on the entry table and food table, but it didn’t stop there. Guests were able to pick from several buckets filled with different kinds of white flowers – think roses, spray roses, carnations and more! Babies Breath and Eucalyptus were also available to round our their bouquets. Once the guests picked their flowers they brought them to me to arrange for them. I cut the ends of the stems and wrapped them with a wet paper towel and then secured them with a rubber band. I took squares of brown kraft paper that I had prepped before the party and wrapped up the bouquet. I finished the wrapping job with black and white striped baker’s twine tied in a bow. Guests were able to take their bouquets home as favors. It was my favorite part of the entire shower!
Invitations are very near-and-dear to my heart. I think they set the tone for the entire event. These invites were no exception. They was a mix of modern sans-serif font and custom hand lettering printing on hand-made-paper. The torn edges and texture of the paper really allowed the, otherwise, simple design to level up! These were tucked away into hand-lettered envelopes. The games used for the shower took design elements from the invitations, so everything was cohesive. There is no doubt that baby girl is going to be so loved when she enters this world. Her parents are going to treat her like a princess and her brother is going to protect her always. I’m sure she is going to be booking her own flight to Paris just as soon as she is able, and I can almost guarantee her parents are going to insist on coming along. With so many wonderful details that came together for this event, it’s hard to pick my favorite, but I really enjoyed seeing all the different bouquets the guests made. Some took one of everything, while others just wanted a bouquet of hydrangeas. It was so neat to see their personalities shine through!
What about you? What was your favorite detail from this day?
