Vision

Encouraging small businesses to showcase their most authentic selves, beautifully.

My name is Akela. A Georgian transplant from Oklahoma (but a born Kansan). I have a decade of experience in marking, including logo design, social media management, website design, branding, business development, and more. Before my return to marketing/branding I ran a successful design business in the wedding industry.

These attributes combined have given me a unique look into how businesses operate from a branding perspective – especially business in the wedding sector. I have seen first-hand how brand consistency evokes positive emotions in your target audience, aligning them with your vision and goals – and ultimately allowing you to land your dream clients!

Helping business owners discover their competitive advantage in the marketplace and then developing a clear and meaningful brand personality based on that advantage so they can attract their ideal clients for the life of their business is my passion!

When I’m not working I enjoy decorating my home, thrifting, eating pounds of ice cream (preferably chocolate from Andy’s), smelling tomato stems in the grocery store, and spending time with my handsome husband, beautiful daughter, and Great Dane.

Follow me along on my journey on Instagram and let me know if you have any remedies for my perpetually dirty glasses.

The Timeline

My name

I get a lot of questions about my name. Which I love, because I love my name! Akela is pronounced like “tequila” without the “t”.

If it sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because you have seen it in one of two movies: The Jungle Book, or Akeelah and the Bee. In the Jungle Book the leader of the wolf pack is named Akela. It’s pronounced just like Akeelah in Akeelah and the Bee.

My business name – Akela Clark Designs – comes from my first name and my middle name. I am actually the 4th “Clark” in my family on my mom’s side. Her middle name, her dad’s middle name, and HIS dad’s middle name is Clark. And now my daughter is the 5th Clark in the family!
