When Korbyn (owner of Korbyn Skye Photography) reached out to me about her styled shoot idea, I think I squealed with excitement! Her vision for the day really spoke to my soul and I could not WAIT to get started on my items! In her initial message she told me a bit about her vision: “It will be an evening wedding with lots of cute lanterns/lights on the rooftop with a view of downtown! Kind of celestial/starry night theme.”
Count me in. 100%.
For those of you that don’t know, a styled shoot is an opportunity for wedding vendors to get together to showcase their talents and offerings in a low-stress and curated environment.
So there I was, still squealing with excitement when I started jotting down my ideas (see poorly drawn notes below)
Starting with sketches really helps me get all of my ideas out of my head and onto something tangible, so I can actually SEE what I’m working with (visual learner over here). I knew this had the potential to be a BEAUTIFUL theme, but also had the potential to come across too “kitchy” or “themed”. I definitely wanted to make sure everything I created was polished, serene and beautiful. I also wanted each of my items to include a hint of mystery and be a bit moody.
I’m going to be honest here, these were some of my favorite items I have ever created. It was also so amazing to see all of the vendors come together that day and everything just coming together PERFECTLY! I love styled shoots for that reason, it allows vendor and creatives to just run with an idea, to be as unique as they want, without the pressure of an actual wedding day (cause we all know, those can tend to get stressful). Plus, The Plenty Mercantile was the PERFECT location for this shoot….their venue is just dreamy.
Ok, I can’t stand it anymore, let’s get to those awesome pictures Korbyn took!!
Invitation Suite:
My invitation suite consisted of one 5”x7” invitation, one 3”x5” RSVP and corresponding envelopes in black and navy blue. The invitation lettering was done on my iPad and then printed onto this beautiful watercolor background. Envelope addressing was hand-done.
Additional touches included; vellum belly band and overlay, moon envelope liner, blue wax seals and gold leaf.
Pictures of my suite were only improved by flowers from The Midieval Garden and rings from Naifeh Fine Jewelry.
Table Settings:
My place settings started with a 6”x6” black circle. Over the top of the first layer was my printed vellum. Topping everything off, a gold crescent moon with a dark blue vinyl name. I love when items have a dual-purpose.
How amazing did they look on plates from Castle Event Rentals?! And then those gold utensils and goblets?? Can you believe I never meet with any of these vendors before that day?! Everything just WORKED!
My table number was done on a 5”x7” acrylic sheet. I hand painted the galaxy scene on the back with acrylic paints. The gold separation between clear acrylic and painted back was done with gold leaf (tying in with the invitations).
Banner:
To complete this banner, I wrote my phrase on my iPad and cut it out with my cricut on iron-on material. Then it was just perfecting the placement and ironing the letters onto my dark blue fabric. I was so excited when I got to the venue and Castle Event Rentals had also brought a copper pipe stand for our backdrop, everything just felt so intentional and perfectly planned!
I think the banner was the perfect touch to the cake table. But it is definitely being outshined by that AMAZING cake by Amy Cakes! Talk about a show stopper!
Jacket:
For those of you that have been following my letting journey, you know that I have just recently dove into the custom-jacket world, and I LOVE it! So, of course, I HAD to do a custom leather jacket for the shoot! I am so happy with how it turned out! The hand-painted moon is paired with hand-lettered text and then splattered with white leather paint to mimick the night sky.
How amazing does our model Julia look?! They both killed it!!
This day was an absolute dream and I am so thankful to have been asked to be a part of it!
Enjoy more pictures of the day below, and make sure you check out all the vendors and show them some love!!
